PTA Meeting on TONIGHT: Wednesday, October 18, 2023 at 6:30pm

All parents are invited to attend our virtual PTA Meeting TONIGHT, Wednesday, October 18, at 6:30pm. You can find the link for the meeting here: https://meet.google.com/meu-ynzy-hir. We will talk about Jupiter Grades, take a quick look at the high school process for 8th grade, and briefly talk about PRIME.

We hope to see you there!

Note that if you are a member of the SLT, we meet at 5:30pm. Meeting link has been sent in a separate email to the SLT.

Interested in helping with the PTA/SLT?

We are looking for parents to join the School Leadership Team (SLT) and for 6th and 7th grade parent representatives to support the PTA Executive Committee. We also are looking for parents to help with fun PTA events like Family Soccer Night and International Night.

Back-to-School Night - Thank you & Next steps!

Thanks to all who were able to virtually join us at September’s Back-to-School Night!

Fall Parent-Teacher Conferences (also virtual) are on THURSDAY, November 9th.

In the meantime, your student’s advisor will be checking in with you to introduce themselves, provide updates, and help with questions. All advisors sent letters home in September with their contact information. Can’t reach your student’s advisor, and you need assistance? Call our main office at 718-840-1951.

MAP Growth (Measure of Academic Growth) ELA and Math Beginning-of-Year Assessments

All D15 middle schools will be using the MAP Growth assessment portal to conduct diagnostic assessments in ELA and Math three times per school year. This is district-wide diagnostic assessment used to gauge student levels in ELA and Math to inform teacher planning and instruction. The assessment is computer-based and is not used for any grading purposes. The goal is to gather data on student strengths and areas of growth for the purposes of informing purposeful instruction. These assessments will take place during students’ ELA and Math classes.

After-school clubs started Tuesday, October 3, 2023

We are excited to have after-school clubs start this month! Note that all our after school clubs run under the Center for Family Life (CFL) umbrella and students will need to make sure they have filled out a Lifelines/CFL Application (yellow application) before joining a club. Look through the link to see the many enrichment and support activities offered.

Crecimiento MAP (Medida de Crecimiento Académico) Evaluaciones de ELA y Matemáticas de Principio de Año

Todas las escuelas intermedias del D15 utilizarán el portal de evaluación MAP Growth para realizar evaluaciones de diagnóstico en ELA y Matemáticas tres veces por año escolar. Esta es una evaluación de diagnóstico en todo el distrito que se utiliza para medir los niveles de los estudiantes en ELA y Matemáticas para informar la planificación e instrucción de los maestros. La evaluación se realiza por computadora y no se utiliza para ningún propósito de calificación.
