First Days of School
Wednesday, 9/16, Thursday, 9/17, Friday, 9/18, Monday, 9/21: *VIRTUAL* First Days of School for ALL students
All Prep students will participate in VIRTUAL Community Days and Orientation on 9/16, 9/17, 9/18, and 9/21 from home.
We ask that all students log in to their Prep Gmail by 9am on these days so they are ready to receive more information, including their schedule for Community Day online meetings, and activities.

A reminder to 6th-grade families: We will send you the email we send to students in case your child has any issues accessing our first schoolwide Google Meet. You are welcome to join our Wednesday meeting with your student!
Beginning Tuesday, 9/22: First Day of In-Person Learning at Prep and Remote Classrooms Launch!
All In-Person students will start reporting to Prep on their scheduled day(s). Families can learn their students’ scheduled days for In-Person learning using Prep’s Cohort Look-Up Tool (see links below to access!).
Group A’s First Day of School: Tuesday, 9/22
Group B’s First Day of School: Wednesday, 9/23
Group C’s First Day of School: Thursday, 9/24
Is your child learning remotely (Group D students)? Their remote classes will begin on this day as well on Google Classroom.
How do I know which learning cohort my student is in?
Please refer to the “REPEATS” section at the end of this email for instructions on how to learn your student’s cohort, and how to tell us if you have a concern regarding your child’s schedule or need assistance.

Does your child have an iPad that was shipped to him/her/them in the Spring or Summer?
Great, hold on to it! Your child can use this tech device at home for their Remote Learning assignments.
Does your child have a Prep Chromebook that he/she/them borrowed from us when we started Remote Learning last year?
Great, hold on to it! Your child can use this tech device at home for their Remote Learning assignments.
IN-PERSON students ONLY: Does your student need to bring a tech device to Prep on their scheduled in-person days?
NO! Every in-person student will have access to their own tech device to use during their time at Prep. These devices will be regularly sanitized, and kept safe.
Does your child need to borrow a technology device to use at home for Remote Learning, or did something happen to your child’s technology that you borrowed from us in the Spring (i.e. the screen is cracked, the charger broke, etc.)?

How do I know which learning cohort my student is in?
We have created a quick way to look-up your student’s learning cohort by using a link. Before we give you the link to follow, please read through these directions:
1. Before you open the “Learning Cohort Look-up” link, you will need your students OSIS number. This is their student ID number. This is also the same number your student uses to login to PupilPath or use their NY Schools Account.
2. You will enter your student’s ID number in the bright yellow box with the red arrow. Then click ENTER.
3. You will see your student’s name, their class, and their learning cohort letter. If your student is learning in person, you will also see the set day they come to school every week.
4. After you have looked at your student’s cohort, you can erase your student’s ID number from the yellow box.
5. Can’t make it work? Don’t remember your student’s OSIS number? At the bottom of the link below, you will see directions on how to get help!

What do I do if I have a concern with my student’s assigned learning cohort?
You may have an issue with your student’s assigned learning cohort. If you have siblings attending Prep whose cohort days do not match, have an elementary school student who will be picked up by your middle schooler and they have been assigned different days, or have another circumstance we should know about, please let us know by completing this quick form: https://forms.gle/rTPH9g8repvLSEf58
If your circumstances have changed and you had signed up for in-person learning but would prefer remote-only learning. Please complete the DOE survey to opt in to remote-only learning. This is the only way to change your student from in-person learning to remote learning. The link to that survey is here: https://www.nycenet.edu/surveys/learningpreference
If you signed up for remote learning and think you may prefer in-person, the only way to change your preference officially is here: https://www.nycenet.edu/surveys/learningpreference
NOTE: If you think you may be interested in in-person learning later this fall, the DOE has tentatively said the window to opt back into in-person learning will be October 26th – 30th,, with the in-person learning start date in mid November.
