Reminder about our schedule and cohort model

We will have three learning cohorts for in-person learning this fall: Group A, Group B, and Group C. We also have one remote learning cohort: Group D.

Students will attend school at Sunset Park Prep one SET day every week.

Group A attends every Tuesday.
Group B attends every Wednesday.
Group C attends every Thursday.

On the days students are not in school at Sunset Park Prep, they will have classes and do work remotely from home.

On Mondays and Fridays, the three groups – A, B, and C – will rotate. We are bringing in additional students on these days for extra support. More details on this later in September.

Students in Group D will attend all classes and do all work from home, and not have any in-person learning days.

Just like our normal, in-person classes, we have very carefully created these cohorts to be full of diverse learners and ripe with opportunities for student-student collaboration.

How do I know which learning cohort my student is in?

We have created a quick way to look-up your student’s learning cohort by using a link. Before we give you the link to follow, please read through these directions:

1. Before you open the “Learning Cohort Look-up” link, you will need your students OSIS number. This is their student ID number. This is also the same number your student uses to login to PupilPath or use their NY Schools Account.

2. You will enter your student’s ID number in the bright yellow box with the red arrow. Then click ENTER.

3. You will see your student’s name, their class, and their learning cohort letter. If your student is learning in person, you will also see the set day they come to school every week.

4. After you have looked at your student’s cohort, you can erase your student’s ID number from the yellow box.

5. Can’t make it work? Don’t remember your student’s OSIS number? At the bottom of the link below, you will see directions on how to get help!

What do I do if I have a concern with my student’s assigned learning cohort?

You may have an issue with your student’s assigned learning cohort. If you have siblings attending Prep whose cohort days do not match, have an elementary school student who will be picked up by your middle schooler and they have been assigned different days, or have another circumstance we should know about, please let us know by completing this quick form:https://forms.gle/rTPH9g8repvLSEf58

We know you are juggling a lot, and we want to make this as easy as possible for you. Let us know about urgent and important issues with your student’s assigned cohort, and we will then reach out to with a resolution or response! It is our hope to have all these issues resolved by the end of next week.

If your circumstances have changed and you had signed up for in-person learning but would prefer remote-only learning. Please complete the DOE survey to opt in to remote-only learning. This is the only way to change your student from in-person learning to remote learning. The link to that survey is here: https://www.nycenet.edu/surveys/learningpreference

If you signed up for remote learning and think you may prefer in-person, the only way to change your preference officially is here: https://www.nycenet.edu/surveys/learningpreference

The deadline to opt-in to in-person learning was August 7th, but we have been told the DOE is still considering some of these requests.

If you think you may be interested in in-person learning later this fall, the DOE has tentatively said the window to opt back into in-person learning will be October 26th – 30th,, with the in-person learning start date in mid November.
