PTA Meeting TONIGHT: Wednesday, January 19th at 6:30 pm
All parents are invited to attend our virtual PTA Meeting tonight from 6:30 - 7:30 pm. This meeting will include PTA updates, COVID Updates, and Q &A. Here is the link to the meeting: https://meet.google.com/meu-ynzy-hir
COVID Update
Please remember, if your child tests positive: FIRST, please do not send them to school! SECOND: please notify us right away by emailing jspalding@schools.nyc.gov, lscott@sunsetparkprep.com, and dchan@sunsetparkprep.com. If the positive test was from a home test kit, please take a picture of the positive result, and include that in your email. The quarantine period for students who test positive is still currently 10 days.
If your child is exposed in school: They will be given a letter to bring home and a home test kit containing two tests. One test should be taken that day, and the other should be taken on Day 5. Unless your child is symptomatic or tests positive, they may continue to attend school (regardless of vaccination status).
Two things you can do to help us keep all students safe in school:
In-school COVID testing: The DOE in-school testing program will now include both vaccinated and unvaccinated students. Even if you did this last year, please again complete the testing consent form in your NYC Schools Account so that your child may be tested. We will send home a paper copy of this consent form with students, too. This is one way we can catch cases before they spread.
Vaccination: A growing number of students at Prep are vaccinated. While being vaccinated against COVID is not yet required, you can learn more about getting vaccinated and sign-up for vaccinations on through this site: https://www1.nyc.gov/site/doh/covid/covid-19-vaccines.page
We will be sharing more about COVID policy and procedures in the PTA Meeting tonight, and you can expect continued updates and additional details in future emails.
Important Dates
Here are a few important dates and reminders:
Marking Period #2 ends on Friday, January 28th
Black Lives Matter Week of Action at Prep from January 31st - February 4th
NO SCHOOL on Tuesday, February 1st in celebration of Lunar New Year
Marking Period #2 Report Cards will be sent home the week of February 14th
NO SCHOOL on Monday, February 21st - Friday, February 25th for Midwinter Break
A digital copy of our February calendar will be posted to our website at the end of the month, and also sent home to families.
Pause in After-School
Many of the after-school clubs that were being offered in the fall have been put on pause during this current wave of the pandemic. Life Lines is offering a simplified, socially distant after school program between 2:45 - 5:45 daily, featuring community building and arts activities in small groups, and a limited number of teacher-led clubs are running virtually or, in rare cases, in person.
Below is a live Google document which reflects the current schedule of activities happening during after school hours. Anything that has been grayed out is currently on hold.
Lifelines will be updating this document regularly as new information becomes available, and there will be an update this week. Help Prep buy quality KN95 masks for kids
The PTA is fundraising to buy KN95 masks for all of the kids in the school. If you would like to contribute please send an envelope with cash or check to Ms. Deliz. Checks can be made out to "Sunset Park Prep PTA".
Katrina Motch will also accept electronic payment by Venmo or Zelle. She will deposit all funds in the PTA account.

Actualización de COVID

Pausa en después de la escuela
