Half Day for Students, VIRTUAL Parent Teacher Conferences on Thursday, November 18th
Parent Teacher Conferences are on Thursday, November 18th. All students will be dismissed from school at 11:45 am. Virtual Parent Teacher Conferences are scheduled between 1 - 3 pm and 4:30 - 7:30 pm. You can expect the following:
Student report cards will be sent home with students on Thursday.
Parents can expect your student’s Advisor to reach out and share student progress during Parent Teacher Conferences.
If there are specific subject teachers you would like to speak with, you can let the advisor know and they will connect you, you can always contact teachers through PupilPath, or you can see our Teacher Directory online here: https://www.sunsetparkprep.com/single-post/teacher-directory
COVID-19 Update
We continue to be strongly committed to keeping students safe while in school. We are screening and taking temperatures at arrival each day, everyone in the building is required to wear masks, and we are following social-distance guidelines in classrooms and during lunch. While vaccinations for students are not required yet by the DOE, the COVID-19 vaccine is now available in our school-based health clinic (see more below) and many of our students are vaccinated.
While we have made it through these first few months without a reported COVID-19 case, last week we had three confirmed cases and partial classroom closures in the 6th and 7th grade.
The policy is slightly different from last year when a case is reported and investigated in terms of closure and communication, but you can expect that any unvaccinated student who was a close contact of the staff member or student with a positive test will be required to be quarantined. If your child is vaccinated and a close contact, then they will not be required to quarantine. Of course, anyone who is experiencing symptoms, whether vaccinated or unvaccinated, should stay home.
In addition to the DOE communication about cases, we will continue to call, send emails, and provide updates if and when positive COVID cases are reported at Prep.
Mailing Home: PupilPath Letters, November Calendar, Important Dates
Last week, we sent home the November Calendar with important dates for this month, copies of the PTA Welcome Letter and Important Dates, and a personalized PupilPath Letter.
PupilPath is a website (www.PupilPath.com) and an app that can bring you immediate information regarding your student’s progress in class. PupilPath.com allows you to view your student’s assignments, your student’s grades in each class including homework, classwork, tests and projects, progress reports, and report cards.
We hope that by making this information accessible, we can work together to ensure our students remain on track in every class and get the most out of their education.
If you need help registering or PupilPath, our Parent Coordinator Ms. Deliz is happy to help. Feel free to call her at 718-840-1951, extension 4591.
After-School Program Updates
Our free after-school program happens everyday. Students can join many different clubs/activities and can attend any number of days. The schedule for any day:
· 3:05 - 3:30 pm: Students check-in and eat supper
· 3:30 - 4:30 pm or 3:30 - 5 pm: Student clubs and activities
· 4:30/5 pm - 5:45 pm: Homework help, student sports and play

At Prep, we would like to help make sure every student has a technology device and wifi to use at home to complete assignments and to work on remote learning days. If your student needs a device, or if your student has a device but they share it with a sibling, or if you have a broken device, we can help! Prep’s In-School Clinic Approved to Give COVID-19 Vaccine to Students!
On Friday, we learned that our school-based health clinic has been approved to give COVID-19 vaccines to students! Our vaccine program will begin on Wednesday, November 17th. COVID-19 vaccines will only be offered on Wednesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays from 2:30 PM - 3:30 PM by appointment. A parent or legal guardian must sign a consent form prior to us administering the COVID-19 vaccine (accessible via this link: COVID-19 Parental Consent Form). Paper forms are available at our clinic.
Students ages 12 to 15 years old do not need to be accompanied by an adult, but students aged 11 years old or younger must be accompanied by a parent/legal guardian, or designated adult. The clinic will administer first and second doses.
You can make an appointment to have your child vaccinated by calling the school-based health clinic at 718-840-1974.

Actualización COVID-19
Continuamos comprometidos firmemente a mantener a los estudiantes seguros mientras están en la escuela. COVID-19 更新信息
