Happy Friday! We are writing with a few quick reminders and important updates:
REMINDER: the deadline to opt your student back IN to in person learning at Prep is TODAY. The Mayor and Chancellor have opened the through 4/9 (today!). You can indicate your interest in having your student return sometime this spring. Please read below for more information on what this means and how to do it.
NEW COVID CLOSURE POLICIES: On Thursday, the Mayor and Chancellor announced a CHANGE in COVID-19 Closure Policies for Schools. We wanted to get this information quickly because it may influence your decision to send your student back to school. Read more about this below.
In person learning is ON for Monday, April 12th. We just received word that we can re-open on Monday for in person learning. See below for more details.

Is your student in person but you would like them to learn from home instead? You can make this change at any time, but once you move to remote you may not be able to come back to in person learning if the survey is closed. Read more about how to do this below.

Opting IN to In Person Learning
REMINDER: If you are satisfied with the group your child is in now - In Person or Remote Only - and you do not want to make any changes, you do NOT have to take any additional action!
Before Spring Break, Mayor De Blasio reversed his policy and decided to offer another opportunity for families to opt their student into in person learning. As a reminder, the deadline is Friday, April 9th - TODAY!
Any family interested in opting their child into in person learning, must fill out the Learning Preference Survey online no later than April 9th. Please click HERE to do so: https://www.nycenet.edu/surveys/learningpreference
Note that space for in person learning at Prep is limited due to COVID-19 capacity restrictions, and we will strive to accommodate all survey responses.
If you need help completing the survey, you should contact Ms. Deliz at edeliz@schools.nyc.gov or by phone at 646-942-3106. She can help! The city has not yet announced when newly admitted in person students begin classes at school buildings. A member of the Prep admin team will reach out to all families who have completed the survey when we know more details. *New* COVID Closure Policies for Schools On Thursday the Mayor and Chancellor announced revised School Closure Protocols which will change the ways schools close when a COVID case is confirmed in schools. The big take-away: schools will close less often. This new policy starts on Monday, April 12th. What is new? Schools will no longer close for 24 hours while investigations take place. If there are 2 or more positive cases in a school, the DOE will increase random testing to 40% of the students and staff in attendance. If there are 4 or more confirmed cases in different classrooms within a school over a 7-day period that can be traced to a known exposure within the school, the entire school will close for 10 calendar days and transition to remote learning. Note that this is school-based now, and we used to close for cases in the building as a whole. What stays the same? If there is at least one confirmed positive case in a class, students and staff in that class will quarantine for 10 calendar days and transition to remote learning during this time. We hope this policy will allow us to stay open more regularly as a school. We will all have to continue to work together to keep our Prep school community safe. Please do not send anyone who is not feeling well into the building, make sure you have signed your consent form for random COVID testing, and let’s all be extra careful as we work to keep our school open for learning! Prep re-opens on Monday, April 12th for in person learning Prep can reopen for In Person learning on Monday, April 12th.
We will welcome GROUP B to Prep on Monday.
On Tuesday, April 13th GROUP A will be back.
Students in Group D continue to learn from home.
IMPORTANT: If you received a call to keep your student and home and in quarantine, please keep them safe and continue to monitor their health.Do not send them to school for in-person learning - they will learn online. You will get a follow-up email with further directions.
